Young Environmentalists Programme Trust: Contributing to Ocean Action Panel to UNOC

After contributing to the great milestone of the Venice Declaration on Ocean Literacy in Venice earlier this year and participating in the Athens and Barcelona Ocean Conferences ,At the Young Environmentalists Programme Trust, we are proud to play a vital role in the Ocean Action Panel 2, which focuses on increasing ocean-related scientific cooperation, knowledge sharing, capacity building, marine technology, and education. Our commitment to strengthening the science-policy interface for ocean health aligns perfectly with the goals set forth by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

Through our participation in the Global Stakeholder Consultation, we have actively contributed valuable insights to the Ocean Action Panels Concept Papers. We firmly believe that ocean literacy and climate education should be enforced as compulsory requirements within academic institutions. By embedding these essential topics into educational curricula, we can equip future generations with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect our oceans.

Our organization is dedicated to fostering collaboration among stakeholders, enhancing marine technology, and promoting effective knowledge transfer. We understand that a healthy ocean is critical not only for biodiversity but also for the well-being of communities and economies worldwide.

As we move forward, we will continue to advocate for the integration of ocean literacy and climate education into academic frameworks. By doing so, we aim to empower individuals and communities to engage meaningfully in ocean conservation efforts, ensuring a sustainable future for our planet’s marine ecosystems.

Together, we can strengthen the science-policy interface and create a more informed society that values and protects our oceans. Thank you for supporting our mission as we work towards a healthier, more sustainable ocean for all.
